What’s stopping you
from being exceptional
 in your
Small Business?
Sales Career?
Attitude and Outlook?

Most of us can justify why we’re stuck. We have reasons that include “if onlys” and “shoulds.” If only I were younger or older, didn’t have such a bad boss, or had different circumstances.

How about...the environment at work should be different, my spouse should know better, I should have gone to grad school, I should be the one that finally gets the break?

You may know what you are supposed to do to advance towards your goals and dreams, but you don’t know how. I knew I needed to control my negative thinking, but after spending hundreds of hours with books, tapes, and CD’s, I had made very little progress.

For years I didn’t know what was stopping me, but I finally found out. It was me. The way I was, how I was programmed to think and believe, how I related to my problems and life all kept me stuck. I hadn’t a clue. After all of those perfectly reasoned excuses that I totally believed, how could it be me? It was. Gulp.

Could it be the same with you? You and your beliefs, your past, your environment, and your life experiences have all programmed you into a thinking box, and your life is the result. It’s really, really good news though. You are about to find out a system to release you from being stuck and to bring out your best.

Here’s what I learned:

You know you have to “do” things differently to get new results.

But to do something differently, you must change the way you think about it. If a salesperson is cold calling, trying to make a sale, it’s a grueling task. But if she is out to sincerely help people with her product and to connect with them in an authentic way so they see the value, it’s much more inspiring. It’s a different perspective and yields a different result.

Thinking differently requires uprooting the beliefs that are driving your current way of thinking. When this happens, you gain self-awareness, increased understanding, and a new perspective on how you see your self, your problems, others, and the world. You dismantle ineffective thinking patterns and replace them with patterns that get you moving.

The salesperson was trained to “sell.” That’s how she knew to do her job. A new way of thinking about sales from an experienced, successful peer gave her new insight. What changed? Not cold calling -- just her thinking around it and how she related to it.

She discovered what was stopping her, and you can too. You can get out of your own way. You can be seeing with a new perspective or discovering the junk of non-truths in your life, which is the stuff you need to get out of the way so you can accelerate your growth and play in a bigger game.

It’s a journey of self-discovery. It’s inside work that involves who you are and how you are at work and in life. Most of your training and schooling is centered on doing. My method is non-traditional; it concentrates on making the lasting changes necessary to think differently. Then you can do what matters in a new way for the results you want. You will start attracting what you want in life, rather than striving.

Getting out of your own way to be exceptional is built on a foundation of principles cemented in truth. We drill for the truth to discover and understand the way things really are, not how you perceive them to be. You grow to believe in new, exciting, and inspiring ways that create stability in your life.

What’s possible as you begin to get unstuck?

The journey of self-mastery is the big goal, the most noble of achievements that not only leads to freedom from yourself and the controlling ways of others, but also helps to uncover your authentic self.  You grow towards the higher-level of being exceptional and building a remarkable business, career, or life. You finally secure lasting change to move ahead again and again.

Getting to self-mastery is by the road of self-discovery and awareness. You will come to know yourself in a deeper, more meaningful way. Your personal foundation will be better rooted in rock solid truth where your self-esteem and self-worth become more apparent. As you learn to master yourself, you will define what matters from within and not by the opinions of others or constant comparisons.

You can become a leader of your thoughts rather than following your mind wherever it wishes to go. You will see yourself, others, and the world in a new way once you learn to look at the opportunity of every situation, focus on what’s right and good, and to repel the negative.

You can learn to manage emotions rather than be controlled by them. To respond as you wish in tense situations rather than to react. Drilling for the truth will release much of what’s bottled up in you -- bitterness, resentment, anger -- because you’ll have a new perspective on your problems and relationships. This is in no way related to therapy or psychiatry and is not a substitute.

How about confidently having those extreme conversations that you avoid most of the time in your life today? When you recognize and let go of your needs, tough conversations become less personal and much more about resolution. You learn to distance yourself from being offended and hurt while pressing on to resolve the issue in a non-confrontational way.

As you get out of your own way, the peace, joy, and love that is buried in you already will be uncovered and will flow more freely. A deeper love for God, yourself, family, co-workers, and others can become your greatest personal asset and joy.

It’s very difficult. It takes courage. Anything awesomely powerful in life will stretch your limits. Otherwise, you would have already done it. You’re the one who must do the work and who must give up what you are today to be all you can be tomorrow.

What are the rewards for this hard work? Almost anything you wish, as long as you keep working and growing your mental, emotional, and spiritual life. You will learn to own responsibility for most everything in your life. That means you’ll also have a choice about how you operate in every facet of your world. Now that’s freedom.
